Dunkle Weisse is the dark counterpart to the classic Bavarian wheat beer, brewed by Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg — the oldest monastery brewery in the world, operating in Kelheim since 1050. It marries the fruity, top-fermented character of a hefeweizen with the deeper, roasted warmth of dark malt for a beautifully balanced dark wheat beer.

Brewed from wheat malt and dark barley malt with Herkules, Perle and Tradition hops, it pours a dark, hazy colour beneath a fine-pored, compact head. The aroma carries a caramel note alongside the fruity wheat-beer character, and the palate stays spritzy and refreshing throughout, balancing malty depth with soft yeast fruitiness.

At 5.3% ABV, it's an easy-drinking dark wheat beer that pairs well with desserts, cheeses, lighter game dishes and rich, savoury fare.
