Weltenburger Kloster - Winter Traum - 500mL

Winter-Traum is a seasonal Märzen-style amber lager from Klosterbrauerei Weltenburg — at over 975 years old, the oldest monastery brewery in the world, brewing on the banks of the Danube near Kelheim in Bavaria since 1050. Märzen takes its name from March, when beer was traditionally brewed and lagered cool through summer for autumn and winter drinking, and Winter-Traum ("Winter Dream") carries that heritage as a rich, warming cold-weather release.

Brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot using Herkules, Perle and Tradition hops alongside light and dark barley malts, it pours a beautiful amber colour beneath a fine-pored, compact head. The use of fine specialty malts gives it a pronounced caramel aroma and a pleasantly full-bodied, malt-forward character, balanced by a gently zesty, clean lager finish. Strong and traditional, without heaviness.

At 5.4% ABV, it's a characterful winter lager that pairs beautifully with goose and game dishes, hearty Brotzeit spreads, and desserts.
